Arsenal fan David Alaba talks up playing in the Premier League

David Alaba has potentially opened the door for a move to the Premier League, and Arsenal in particular.

The long-time Bayern Munich ace is one of the most highly-rated defenders in world football and would surely attract interest from Europe’s biggest clubs if he decided to leave the German champions.

Alaba, 26, a graduate of the Bayern Munich youth academy has won Bundesliga titles and one Champions League in just a decade of professional football.

The full-back has admitted that although happy at Bayern, a move to the Premier League one day does interest him.

“I can imagine trying something else but I really feel very comfortable at Bayern,” he told Bild.

Could you see Alaba in amongst these Gunners?

“Every year there a new challenges and new objectives and the pressure will always be there. I’m happy in Munich but of course I can imagine seeing something else [in the future].”

“Spain, England. In Spain it would be the two big clubs, I guess? Real or Barcelona. Also the big clubs [in England].”

And on Arsenal, he said: “Yes I was [and Arsenal fan as a child]. When you’ve been Arsenal fan as a kid you will be one your whole life in some way.”

Alaba and Bayern have managed to claw themselves to the top of the Bundesliga table, despite a six point deficit to Borussia Dortmund at the mid-season break.
